EVE Online News – Community Team – The Road Ahead

CCP Navigator has penned the latest article on the EVE Online blog. In it, Navigator talks about the recently announced staff reductions and how the Community Team will be impacted.

According to Navigator, players are worried that communication between the dev team and the community will not be as prolific as it's been in the past. In response, Navigator said, "The Community team has merged with Customer Support to create the Customer Relations wing of CCP. Hilmar, the CEO of CCP, recently stated in an interview with Eurogamer, ‘ By centralizing customer support and community we have more people doing community work than we did before. Being co-located with the developers allows the information within the community groups to have a much more direct effect on the development process.’"

EVE Online News – Battlecruisers to Utilize BIG Guns

The Winter expansion for EVE Online will see the debut of another tier of Battlecruisers according to a new blog post penned by CCP Guard.

According to Guard, the best thing about the new tier of Battlecruisers is that they will be able to outfit themselves in Battleship weaponry. You know, those really BIG guns?

They will be capable of similar damage output as a battleship but obviously all that damage comes at a price. They won‘t be able to tank like a battleship, but what they lack in the tanking department the right pilot should be able to somewhat make up for  with speed and distance management. Those looking to start minmaxing fleets of TÖTALHELLDEATH will have to wait a bit for the stats.

EVE Online News – CCP to Refocus, Reduce Staff by 20%

The CCP blog has been updated with news that the company will be refocusing its efforts on EVE Online and Dust 514. As a result of the restructuring of the focus, the number of staff will be reduced by 20% worldwide and World of Darkness will be sidelined.

Following this reorganization, we must do a better job by focusing on these priorities:

  • For the immediate future, our mission is to enrich the vast EVE Universe by strengthening the continuous development of EVE Online while preparing to bring DUST 514 to market on the PS3. We do this in order to realize our ambitious and challenging plan of joining the two in a cross-platform, truly massive online world.
  • World of Darkness will continue development with a significantly reduced team. This team will continue to iterate and expand on the gameplay and systems they have designed. We will also redeploy creative teams in Atlanta to support the launch of DUST 514.
