TERA News – Now Free To Play Worldwide

Gameforge and En Masse Entertainment have announced that both the NA and EU versions of TERA are now free to play as of Tuesday, February 5th. Players will need to download a patched version of the game to access the F2P options.

From the TERA Rising NA release:

In-game content launching today includes an all-new wave-based dungeon and a PvP battleground map. The multi-level Crucible of Flame dungeon will challenge players with a series of epic, high-level battles, and PvP players can jump into an all-new three vs. three battle arena. Two new game servers, one PvE and one PvP, also launch today to give players the option of joining a fresh server or one with an existing community.

Gameforge has released a new trailer for the EU TERA:

TERA News – Subscription Free Version Coming February 5th

TERA players won't have long to wait for the launch of the subscription free version of the game. Both Europe's Gameforge and NA's En Masse Entertainment have announced that the F2P TERA will officially launch on Tuesday, February 5th.

There will be three player status types in TERA: Rising:

–  STANDARD players have full access to all in-game content, without restrictions, for up to two free characters per server. They can purchase consumable, cosmetic, and convenience items from the in-game store on an a la carte basis.

–  FOUNDER status is granted to all current subscribers as of February 5th, and provides additional character slots, bank tabs, a special mount, and other benefits. Founders retain these benefits regardless of whether they choose Standard or Elite status. Founder status can also be obtained after launch through physical retail packages while supplies last.

–  ELITE status can be purchased in 30-day increments that confer numerous benefits including dungeon bonuses and rewards, additional daily quests, daily delivery of items, special mounts, and store discounts. Power players will find the fee more than pays for itself through the free items and discounts granted while they enjoy exclusive in-game perks.

TERA News – F2P Restrictions Detailed

A new blog post on the En Masse Entertainment site lays out the details and differences in the new F2P – subscription model for TERA. The game will officially introduce the new revenue model in February.

Founder status lets you keep all your character slots and bank tabs, plus you’ll receive an exclusive mount and the “Founder” title. The Terminus mount automatically shows up in your skillbook for every character—existing or new.

This applies to anyone who has supported TERA with a purchase of the game (digital or physical).

TERA News – New F2P Model Combating the Stereotype

Now that the proverbial "cat is out of the bag" about the North American version of TERA adding in a subscription free revenue model, we managed to catch up to Associate Producer Patrick Sun to talk more about the TERA Rising model and about incoming changes to the game. Check it out and then chat in the comments.

MMORPG: TERA continues to evolve in the MMO market. What is the state of the game like today for players?

Patrick Sun: We’ve all seen a lot of changes in the MMO market this past year, and with more free games than ever before, players have a wide selection of quality titles—all of them competing for players’ time. With our award-winning combat system and our upcoming fully-free model, TERA will definitely be a free game to put on your radar.

TERA News – Free Game Time Added to Accounts

En Masse Entertainment has gifted all players with an extra seven days of free game time due to glitches getting players into the game following the F2P announcement last week. According to the post, all "past, present and future" players will receive the boon.

We’ve seen a great response to TERA: Rising, our transition to making TERA free for everyone. In addition to that great news, we also reactivated all past subscribers for seven days, giving you a chance to come back and experience TERA again.

Unfortunately, we’ve had a few technical difficulties during this reactivation period. These made it difficult for some players to get into game. The good news is that those issues have now been addressed and everyone can once again access TERA.
